question about error in hypothesis testing?
A container if filled with red and blue marbles. The true proportion of red marbles is 80%. You take a sample of 100 marbles. (You may use a significance level of 5%.)
(a) What is the probability of making a type I error? (b) What is the probability of making a type II error? (c) What is the power of the test? :please: :please: :please: :please: |

(a) What is the probability of making a type I error?
Type I error = the probability of reject true null hypothesis = 5% (if significant level = 5%) [regardless of how much the percentage of actual proportion of red marbles] (b) What is the probability of making a type II error? Type II error = the probability of failure to reject false null hypothesis = 1- power of the test >>> but I forgot what's the figure is ^_^ (c) What is the power of the test? The probability of not making a type II error = (1-Type II error). |
