Definition : Let $f$ be a function defined on a nonempty domain $D \subseteq \mathbb{C}$. We say that $f$ is an "algebraic function" if there exists a nonconstant complex polynomial $F=F(z,w)$ (in two variables) such that $F(z,f(z)) = 0$ for all $z \in D.$ Otherwise, $f$ is called transcendental.
Note : According to this definition, complex exponential $e^z$ is certainly transcesdental. It likely to be the same for $\cos z, \sin z, \log z, w^z.$
