The Department of Mathematics is proud to announce Oslerfest, a conference in honor of Professor Thomas Osler’s 70th Birthday, to be held on Friday and Saturday April 16 - 17, 2010 at Rowan University. You are cordially invited to participate and attend this conference. Since this is a two day conference we have limited space available for speakers. If you want to give a talk at this conference please let us know. For the most part we will process applications on a first come first serve basis. Professor George Andrews of Penn State University and Professor Bruce Berndt of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will be the plenary speakers at the conference.

Professor Andrews is the President of the American Mathematical Society and is recognized as one of the world’s outstanding experts in number theory. Professor Berndt is the world’s leading scholar on the works of the great Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. Both are gifted speakers and we are very fortunate that they have agreed to honor us by their participation.

Oslerfest will kick off on Friday April 16 at 1:45pm with a public lecture by Professor Bruce Berndt entitled Ramanujan's Life and Notebooks. This will be followed by dinner to honor Professor Osler. You will be given a few minutes to say whatever you want about Professor Osler at this time. We need to make a reservation for the dinner, so please let us know if you will be attending.

There will be no registration fees. However, please note that we do not have travel funds to support your participation. Participants must pay for dinner unless they have been accepted to speak.

We realize that it will be five months before the Oslerfest, but we need to get some idea now of the number of people attending so that we can prepare appropriately. Please let us know now if you think that you will likely attend. We will contact you later for a firm commitment.
