Second order differential equation

I got a question about second order differential equation.

Suppose d²y/dx²+k²y=0
From the book I read it said the general solution is
y = Acos(kx) + Bsin(kx)

But when I do it by myself, first I got
y = Ae^ikx+Be^-ikx
Then from e^iq = cosq + isinq

So y = Acos(kx) + iAsin(kx) + Bcos(-kx) + iBsin(-kx)
y = (A+B)cos(kx) + (A-B)isin(kx)
y = Ccos(kx) + Disin(kx)
But when compare with that from the book
y = Acos(kx) + Bsin(kx)

So my question is where is "i" ????

A , B , C , D อยู่ในโดเมนของจำนวนเชิงซ้อนครับ ดังนั้นในกรณีนี้A = C และ B = Di นั่นเอง

But in this case we want only real number na krub because the complex number has nothing to do in the real world krub.

Actually the differential equation above is the equation for elastic string krub.

ก็ไม่มีปัญหานี่ครับ เมื่อคุณแทน initial condition ลงไป
หากคุณมองผลเฉลยอยู่ในรูปของ
y = C cos(kx) + Di sin(kx) คุณจะได้ค่า C เป็นจำนวนจริง และ D เป็นจำนวนจินตภาพ ทำให้ได้ Di เป็นจำนวนจริงนั่นเอง (ลองคิดดูดีๆ)
